We are 18 years old, & currently studying in NgeeAnnPoly's Early Childhood Education. We believe that children should learn through hands on experiences in order to learn better during their developmental stages. Hence, we recommend certain on-line games for your children to play & learn at the same time.

MATH

The name of this game is Blue’s Gold Clues Challenge. It is suitable for young children aged 4 to 5 years old.

http://www.nickjr.com/games/blues-gold-clues-challenge.jhtml?path=/games/all-shows/letters-spelling-games/4-5-years/index.jhtml

In Blue’s Gold Clues Challenge, there are 3 locations that children will have to play in order to earn a set of Gold Clues.

In Alphabet City, the aim is to fill in the missing alphabet in the blank spaces, just by clicking on the alphabet.

In Numbers Kingdom, the goal is to identify the colours, and count the number of puppies. The coloured puppy on the bottom right hand corner, tells you which colour puppies to click and count.

In Shapes Forest, children click and drag the missing shapes and place them where they belong.

At the end, the set of Gold Clues results in a jigsaw puzzle your child can put together to discover one of Sprinkles' favorite things.

The objectives of this game are that it allows children to improve on their developmental skills on language, when they listen and comprehend from this game. Children will also improve on their developmental skills on math, as they are able to practise counting, and understand Mathematical terms, reasoning and problem solving skills, when they tackle each obstacle in every location.

Pros & Cons:
Through this game, the children are able to learn many Math concepts such as identifying different shapes, counting numbers and recognising the alphabets. When the cursor is placed over the alphabets, it tells you what the alphabet is. When you click on the puppies to count, the computer counts with you as well. Through these, children can innate the language from the computer to help them learn better. The game can also be played more than once, as the mini-games and clues are different, so your child finds a new challenge each time he/she plays.

However, children will get restless after some time, as it requires attentive hearing, and children at the age of 4 to 5 would have a short attention span.

MATH

The name of this game is Farm Addiction. It is suitable for young toddlers aged 3 to 4 years old.

Farm Addiction is definitely a fun Math game for young children as it is easy to play and it makes learning Math interesting! Firstly, add up the groups of newly hatched chicks.

Then, drag the correct number and place it on the question mark. After which, you can see and hear the roosters crow in Farm Addiction!

The objectives of this game are that the children will be able to practise counting. They will also be able to learn addition, as they know a certain number adding to another number will give you a certain answer. Number recognition will also be learnt, as they drag the numbers into the over hte question marks.

Pros & Cons:
Through this game, young children will be able to practise counting and be familiar with counting from 1 to 10. They will also enhance their fine motor skills when they click and drag the mouse and move it up and down.

As simple as it may seem, however, some children may get bored of Farm Addiction easily as there is not a variety of moves for the children to make.
